The Rosapenna Hotel and Golf Resort is found within the picturesque coastal town of Downings, Co. Donegal. Two fine courses lie side by side. First you’ll find the Old Tom Morris Course. From the first tee you play towards the coast, once you get over this you are faced with a stretch of four holes that run in parallel to TraMore Beach – a fantastic setting for your introduction to the Old Tom Morris course. [SinglePic not found] In June 2003 the Sandy Hills Links course opened, designed by legendary Irish golf course architect Pat Ruddy. This is an excellent championship course with testing tee positions, narrow fairways and challenging approach shots. Sandy Hills has the tradtional links feel about it. You can play the course and not see anyone else, you are encased in high dunes that flitter their way around the course. This is one of the best newly designed links courses to come on stream in Ireland in the last decade and it is only a matter of time before it holds an Irish Open. There are also plans for an academy course to come on-line in the coming year giving Rosapenna and Downings another wonderful addition to its offering.
