Portstewart is located in County Derry and is very close to Royal Portrush (approx 7 kms further down the coast in County Antrim). There are 54 holes of links golf available but the main course in the complex is the Strand Course. It was redesigned in the early 1990s and turned the once good course into a great course and an equal to any in the region.

The opening section of holes has led to great debate about whether it is the best starting stretch in the world. The first is a Par 4 measuring 455 yards, dogleg that requires a solid tee shot to set yourself up for an approach to a large green.
