Barry Island was once home to a Butlins holiday camp. It originally opened in 1966 and thrived with its activities and entertainment options until it was sold to Majestic Holidays in1987. However, after a few years of refurbishment, it eventually closed its doors in1996.

About Barry

Barry is a lively coastal town in south Wales, just 10miles west of Cardiff. It is the largest town in Wales and is also the administrative centre of the Vale of Glamorgan, with its pretty hills, spectacular coastlines and vivid green countryside.

Barry is also home to a small peninsula, Barry Island. The combination of the two makes for both a relaxing and innovative area to explore. We must say, as your Barry estate agents, we love it here! With its bustling Goodsheds High Street, it proudly stands as the first sustainable urban hight street in the UK.

Things to do in Barry

Now, this cannot go unsaid. The Gavin and Stacey Tour includes a mini bus trip to various filming locations, with opportunities for photos against backdrops of the 90s show. The tour comes to an end at Barry Island seafront: a more original way to spend your day.

If you are after a bit of fun, head over to Barry Island Pleasure Park which is free to enter and open from 10am to 8pm, seven days a week. It’s not all fun and games though: be sure to sit back, relax and experience the park’s Giant Ferris Wheel. Take in the beautiful views the region has to offer.

Let your Barry estate agents guide you in what we know to be the very best of the region and find you a property that is right for you.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US . . .

Estate Agents in Barry | RE/MAX Estate Agents (53)

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!

We recently sold our house with RE/MAX and are so happy with the service we have received. Our house sold in a matter of days, which is amazing, and Shaun has been contactable at all times for any questions we have. We would definitely recommend using RE/MAX to anyone we know who is thinking of moving home.

A very friendly, in-depth market appraisal. Lots of information was provided about the reason for the valuation and advice on what improvements should or shouldn’t be made if planning to sell the house soon. Overall a very helpful guide on what our house is currently worth. If we decide to sell we would definitely use RE/MAX.

Key takeaways
  • Estate agent fees typically range from 1% to 3.5% of your home's sale price, but you can find estate agents who offer flat-fees.
  • Only the seller pays the agent's fee - usually after your home has sold.
  • You can work with the estate agent to decide on marketing and other services to include in the cost.

How do I find the best local estate agent? ›

To find the best estate agent, ask family, friends and neighbours – it's always good to have a personal recommendation. But you should also compare local estate agents based on the facts like how quickly they sell and how close they come to achieving the asking price.

Is estate agency stressful? ›

As you're probably aware, buying or selling a home is a very stressful process and taking on the role of an estate agent will only make things more stressful. Not to mention, it can be a very emotional experience too and it can be difficult to remove your emotions from the situation.

What fee do most realtors charge? ›

Traditionally, sellers and their agents agree on a commission fee, typically 5 to 6 percent of the home value, with the amount paid out of the seller's proceeds and split between the seller's agent and the buyer's agent.

What is the most common fee simple estate? ›

Fee simple absolute, fee simple determinable, and fee simple conditional estates, as well as life estates, are all forms of freehold estates. Fee simple absolute estates are the most common forms of estate in the United States; and most home ownership deeds fall under the fee simple absolute definition.

Which estate agents are the cheapest? ›

Cheap estate agents to sell your home
  • Sold.co.uk - £0 base fee to pay (includes photos/floorplan and viewings)
  • 99 Home - £99 base fee to pay (DIY package and advertising on some property portals)
  • Griffin Property - £249 base fee to pay (DIY service to sell your home)

Who is best to sell your house with? ›

It depends on what your goal is. To get the best price possible, you should sell through a good local estate agent. To get the fastest sale possible, you should sell to a cash house buying company. For a good balance of speed and price, you should sell by auction (especially if your property has some issues).

Should I use a local estate agent? ›

Personalised Service

Local estate agents provide a level of personalisation and dedication that is often missing in broader, more generic services. They take the time to understand your specific needs and preferences, offering guidance and support throughout the entire selling process.

What is the toughest thing about being a real estate agent? ›

One of the hardest things about being a real estate agent is smoothing your income so that it is consistent throughout the year. This requires discipline and rigorous budgeting. Some agents take second jobs.

Is a realtor a high stress job? ›

The emotional toll of selling homes is especially stressful because agents often have no control over their workload and schedule–they're at the mercy of their clients' needs and demands. When asked about the most challenging aspect of being an agent, one said “the constantly changing situations of each deal.”

Is owning real estate stressful? ›

People often overlook things like times of vacancy, residents who don't pay rent, and maintenance issues. Real Estate provides no shortage of opportunities for stress. We see all kinds of issues day in and day out with our properties. Anything from roof issues to plumbing issues, bad residents, and many many more.
