Thanks to the Class Overhaul Patch 13, almost all weapons are practically usable now. Some still have weird quirks like the Turtolsky Heavy Sword or Atrox Mk IV Tactical Axe. But they are all viable especially in lower difficulty levels. Not to mention that you still have loads of powerful ranged and melee options for tackling Damnation missions. Now, let’s see which weapons are the most worthy to be utilized against forces of Chaos in our Warhammer 40K: Darktide weapon tier list.
Melee Weapon Tier List for Warhammer 40K Darktide
S Tier Melee Weapons
Extremely good for all situations. Can’t go wrong using these weapons.
- Achlys Mk I Power Maul: One of the best weapons for Ogryn if you use Talents that buffs heavy attacks.
- Antax Mk V Combat Axe: Very strong and has reliable attack animations.
- Atrox Mk VII Tactical Axe: Has fast and smooth attack animations and works well with crit builds.
- “Brunt’s Basher” Mk IIIb Bully Club: Very powerful and has wide sweeps for clearing out mobs.
- “Brunt Special” Mk I Bully Club: Another great option for a Bully Club.
- Bull Butcher Mk III Cleaver: Huge damage, great wide sweeps, strong heavy attacks. What’s not to like?
- Cadia Mk IV Assault Chainsword: The most iconic Warhammer weapon is also one of the best melee weapons that you can bring to Tertium.
- Catachan Mk III Combat Blade: One of the best crit weapons. People often use it to solo Daemonhost.
- Catachan Mk IV “Devil’s Claw” Sword: Strong and has good swing attacks for dealing with mobs.
- Catachan Mk VIII “Devil’s Claw” Sword: On par with the Mk IV.
- Crucis Mk II Thunder Hammer: The meta for Zealot. Has extremely strong fast attacks.
- Deimos Mk IV Blaze Force Sword: Synergize well with Deflector Blessing and has a strong thrusting heavy attack. A great single-target companion for Psyker.
- Krourk Mk IV Cleaver: Another great choice if you need a Cleaver. Pretty much on par with Bull Butcher.
- Krourk Mk VI Cleaver: The light attacks aren’t as good as MK IV but still a powerful Cleaver nonetheless.
- Maccabian Mk IV Dueling Sword: Versatile weapon with powerful light and heavy attacks.
- Orox Mk II Battle Maul & Mk III Slab Shield: It’s always worth it to bring a huge shield to protect yourself and the little ones.
- Rashad Mk II Combat Axe: Synergize well with crit builds.
- Tigrus Mk II Heavy Eviscerator: A very good all-rounder chainsword for Zealot.
- Turtolsky Mk IX Heavy Sword: Very strong all-rounder Heavy Sword for Zealot.
A Tier Melee Weapons
Very solid weapons with a few drawbacks.
- Atrox Mk II Tactical Axe: Decent weapon but completely outclassed by Mk VII.
- “Brunt’s Pride” Mk II Bully Club: You can’t go wrong with any Bully Club. But it’s harder to hit specific body parts with Brunt’s Pride’s attack animation.
- Brute-Brainer Mk III Latrine Shovel: Decent melee option for an Ogryn.
- Catachan Mk VIII “Devil’s Claw” Sword: The swings are just barely not as good as its brothers.
- Illisi Mk V Blaze Force Sword: Still a pretty strong melee weapon but its heavy attacks have been nerfed.
- Indignatus Mk IVe Crusher: Decent weapon but the damage is somewhat lacking.
- Ironhelm Mk IV Thunder Hammer: The single target damage is outshined by Crucis. Still pretty good, though.
- Maccabian Mk II Dueling Sword: Not as good as the Mk IV version, but still quite strong.
- Maccabian Mk V Dueling Sword: Has similar problem as Mk II.
- Munitorum Mk III Power Sword: Charging time for Power Sword impacts its usefulness. The stagger effect has been nerfed as well. A-tier at best.
- Munitorum Mk VI Power Sword: Has the same drawbacks as the Mk III version.
- Orestes Mk IV Assault Chainaxe: A very powerful single-target weapon that barely loses to chainswords.
- Standard-issue Munitorum Sapper Shovel: A solid mob-clearing choice for a Veteran.
B Tier Darktide Melee Weapons Tier List
Not as competitive as the S and A tier, but still has its niche.
- Achlys Mk VIII Combat Axe: Strong but considered to be the slowest of all Combat Axes.
- Atrox Mk IV Tactical Axe: Has very weird and awkward attack animations. Hard to use even for a single-target weapon.
- Obscurus Mk II Blaze Force Sword: Not terrible, just sort of mediocre in everything.
- Turtolsky Mk VII Heavy Sword: Strong melee weapon but has hard-to-aim heavy attacks.
- Turtolsky Mk VI Heavy Sword: Strong melee weapon but has awkward heavy attacks.
Ranged Weapon Tier List for Warhammer 40K Darktide
S Tier Ranged Weapons List
Extremely good for all situations. Can’t go wrong using these weapons.
- Accatran MG Mk II Heavy Laspistol: Still the king of sidearms in Darktide since the game’s debut.
- Accatran Mk VId Recon Lasgun: Ammo efficient and barely has recoil. Good for clearing Elites.
- Agripinaa Mk I Infantry Autogun: Learn its recoil and you should start shredding cultists by the hundreds thanks to the weak point bonus.
- Agripinaa Mk VIII Braced Autogun: The excellent choice when you want to go full-auto. Remember that it has no scope, though.
- Agripinaa Mk IX Headhunter Autogun: The semi-auto rifle got extremely buffed with the Patch 13. Get used to not having scope and you should be popping heads fast.
- Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer: For when you need to kill everything with fire. Get the Purge the Unclean Blessing for maximum effect.
- Equinox Mk IV Voidstrike Force Staff: Psyker’s current meta, especially when combined with Assail.
- Foe-Rend Mk II Ripper Gun: Automatic shotgun that has great spread and decent range.
- Foe-Rend Mk V Ripper Gun: Any automatic shotgun that has a great range is an instant S-tier weapon in my book.
- Gorgonum Mk IV Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber: Doesn’t fire as fast as Achlys, but much more reliable.
- Ius Mk III Shredder Autopistol: One of the best automatic guns that you can bring to Tertium despite Pinning Fire Blessing nerf.
- Kantrael MG XII Infantry Lasgun: The Lasgun with the slowest fire rate, but the damage offsets its drawback. One of the best all-rounder rifles that you can choose.
- Kantrael Mk IX Combat Shotgun: Just point and shoot as it will melt anything standing in your crosshair.
- Lorenz Mk VI Rumbler: It’s a grenade launcher, go have fun blowing up some Chaos worshippers with it.
- Lucius Mk II Helbore Lasgun: The best option for when you’re roleplaying as a Krieg. Has the “perfect” balance between ammo consumption and damage.
- M35 Magnacore Mk II Plasma Gun: As deadly as in the lore. But, unlike in the lore, won’t melt your face off. Try exploiting the reload canceling technique to buff up its damage potential.
A Tier Darktide Ranged Weapons Tier List
Very solid weapons with a few drawbacks.
- Accatran Mk VIIa Recon Lasgun: A very good rifle but loses to Mk VId because it has less armor penetration.
- Achlys Mk VII Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber: Having more dakka is always fun but unfortunately, the damage is kind of lacking.
- Agripinaa Mk VII Combat Shotgun: It’s always a relief when a game doesn’t treat a shotgun like a water pistol after launching its projectiles a few feet. Can be used to one-shot snipe most enemies but you need the Solid Slug Shell special ammo.
- Blastoom Mk III Grenadier Gauntlet: A fun long-range weapon for Ogryn. The explosive punch is also quite satisfying.
- Columnus Mk V Infantry Autogun: A decent option for going full-auto despite its heavier recoil.
- Equinox Mk III Trauma Force Staff: Very strong Psyker Staff but needs a god roll to maximize its potential.
- Foe-Rend Mk VI Ripper Gun: Good Ogryn shotgun with burst-fire mechanism.
- Graia Mk IV Braced Autogun: Another option for a full-auto gun despite its range falling off.
- Kantrael MG Ia Infantry Lasgun: Reliable gun that works pretty okay-ish.
- Krourk Mk V Twin-Linked Heavy Stubber: Another okay option for an Ogryn’s heavy, full-auto weapon.
- Lucius Mk III Helbore Lasgun: This is a decent option for a Krieg cosplayer.
- Locke Mk IIb Spearhead Boltgun: Very powerful but the rounds explode when hit and can’t pierce. Hip-fire accuracy also has been nerfed.
- Nomanus Mk VI Surge Force Staff: A powerful Psyker Staff but demands more micromanagement.
- Vraks Mk III Headhunter Autogun: Solid gun if you like a three-round burst.
B Tier
Not as competitive as the S and A tier, but still has its niche.
- Accatran Mk II Recon Lasgun: Simply can’t compete with its Recon Lasgun brethren.
- Columnus Mk II Braced Autogun: A lackluster full-auto rifle because its range is outclassed by other weapons.
- Graia Mk VIII Infantry Autogun: Again, another full-auto weapon that just can’t keep up with better ones.
- Kantrael MG IV Infantry Lasgun: Has a high fire rate but the damage is somewhat lacking.
- Lawbringer Mk VI Combat Shotgun: Quite strong in close combat but its role is completely outclassed by other shotguns.
- Lorenz Mk V Kickback: Decent damage but extremely slow because it’s a one-shot-reload shotgun.
- Lucius Mk III Helbore Lasgun: An extremely strong gun but ammo management could be hard if you’re not used to it.
- Rifthaven Mk II Purgatus Force Staff: A decent weapon but eclipsed by other Staves.
- Zarona Mk IIa Quickdraw Stub Revolver: Decent gun but hampered by low mobility and reload speed.
